| Weekly Review No 101, (1943) VC Returns Home. At Paihiatua, the Home Guard forms a guard of honour and school children mass for Lt Keith Elliot VC who is home from the war. Elliot, who at the time held the rank of sergeant, was awarded the VC for his actions in the Western Desert of North Africa, on 15 July 1942. 01.00 Airgraph Letters: Airgraph letter forms are processed at the Wellington Post Office, including being photographed onto miniature film. Fifteen hundred letters are condensed into one film meaning a great saving in weight and space. The reverse process - converting the film back to letters - is also shown. 04.45 Egypt, Prisoners of War Return: A hospital ship docks in Cairo with British and New Zealand POWs captured when the 8th Army was in retreat. Behind them are Italian prison camps, ahead of them is home. One spokesman comments on their treatment in captivity and thanks New Zealanders for sending care packages to them. Duration 06.40 |
