The Overseas Visit of the New Zealand Railways Electrification Mission: Reel 1
Reel 1: In 1949 New Zealand Railways sent a technical mission of four senior officers overseas with a brief to determine the most suitable system of electrification for the North Island Main Trunk line. In this first reel, the contingent leaves Wellington and flies to Vancouver and promptly leaves on a three and a half day trip across Canada. Disembarking at Niagra Falls, the men head to Chicago to take a look a raised railway and then take a train across the US to Butte, Montana. Colour & B/W, Silent, Duration 11.35
